The Hallett family are originally from Taunton, Somerset. In the 1840s, Joseph HALLETT moved to Sherbourne, Dorset. Two of his sons, Joseph and John, moved to London
1. Joseph HALLETT a woolcomber, died 1803 in Taunton, Somerset was married to Hannah PARSONS in 1767 at Witon, Somerset. Their children were;
Sarah born 1774, Joseph born 1776, Daniel born 1778 and Thomas born 1780
2. Daniel HALLETT (1778 - c1840) a woolcomber and labourer married Ann PURSEY in 1818 at St Mary Magdalen, Taunton. Their children were;
Joseph born 1819, Sarah born 1821, Hannah born 1823, Sarah Selina born 1825, Henry born 1828, Sarah born 1831 and Ann born 1834.
3. Joseph HALLETT (1819 -1872) a bootmaker married Charlotte ANDERSON at the Parish Church, Sherbourne in 1843. Their children were;
Ann born 1844, Joseph Henry (1845-1891), John (1850-1886), Selina (1853- ), Sarah (1860 - ), Charlotte (1864-1871) and James (1869-1933).
In the 1850s Joseph moved to London, presumably looking for a better life. They found work, but the consequences were appalling, by 1892 at least six family members had died from TB.
4. John HALLETT (1850 - 1886) a coffee house keeper, married Johannah JAY probably in Sherbourne. Their children were;
Margaret born 1870, Johannah born 1872, John born 1873, Charlotte born 1874 and Julia born 1875.
John died in Westminster Union Workhouse in 1886 of TB.
Margaret married Henry GLOVER in 1887 and had at least 2 children Henry in 1888 and Charlotte in 1889.
4. Joseph Henry HALLETT (1845 - 1891), a bootmaker married Emma MULLIS daughter of Edward MULLIS and Mary JARVIS in London in 1867. Their children were;
John (1869-1891), Annie (1870- by 1881), William (1874-1951), Fanny (1878-1916), Henry (1883-1925).
5. William HALLETT (1874 - 1951) a bootmaker, married Rosina HOLMES daughter of Samuel McDonald HOLMES and Rose ENTWHISTLE in 1895.
They are my husbands paternal grandparents.
