| Without Hesitation tells the remarkable story of Christopher Cox VC. During WW1 just over 600 Victoria Cross awards were made, of which approximately 130 were to private soldiers in the army. One in three of these Victoria Crosses including Chris Cox’s were awarded for valiant conduct in rescuing wounded men whilst acting as a stretcher bearer.Chris was an agricultural labourer from a quiet Hertfordshire village who became caught up in some of the most appalling circumstances mankind was able to inflict. His bravery and courage in the situations he found himself in are an outstanding example of the compassion of one man for his fellows. This is Chris’s story.
